Too many collections and archives, both from zoos and private individuals, are irretrievably lost.
The Zoo-Archiv therefore collects zoo guides, annual reports, chronicles, but also breeding books, specialist books, memorabilia, newspaper articles, images (as photos, negatives or slides) and ultimately also correspondence, planning documents, etc.
The Zoo-Archiv, founded in November 2021, is run as a non-profit, registered association.
In addition to setting up the archive, special attention is being paid to developing a joint catalog of existing collections.
The participants of the convention Zoohistorica in September 2023 at the Naturzoo Rheine made possible proceeds of 1,038.20 euros for the zoo archive!
